ABOUT OUR PASTOR
Pastor Marlon Nelson Yarbrough, the son of Andryetta Wells Yarbrough and the late Mitchell Lee Davis, was born on October 2, 1963. At an early age Pastor Yarbrough experienced a Christian principle that would forever shape his theological perspective when he was adopted by the late Herman W. Yarbrough.
Pastor Yarbrough is the husband of Karen Curtis Yarbrough, and the father of Walter Nelson and Ebony Elaine. Pastor Yarbrough and his wife Karen are attorneys for the State of Louisiana and proprietors of Yarbrough & Yarbrough, LLC, Attorneys and Counselors at Law.
Throughout his early formative years, Pastor Yarbrough was greatly influenced by the pastoral etiquette of the late Rev. Dr. K. Alfred Sloan Jr., Pastor of Tulane Memorial Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana. Throughout his later formative years to the present, Pastor Yarbrough has been spiritually embraced by 3 "Fathers in Ministry", namely, the Rev. Dr. Ronald Edward Peters, Director of the Metro Urban Institute at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary; the Rev. Dr. Alfred L. Norris Sr., Bishop in the United Methodists Church; and the Rev. Dr. Joshua Joy Dara Sr., Pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Pineville, Louisiana -- visit www.zionhill.com and www.JDM.zionhill.com .
Religion understandably became a secondary vehicle in the framework of Pastor Yarbrough's ministry. He was baptized in July 1968 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church #2 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Pastor is a graduate of Brother Martin High School, which is a Roman Catholic learning institution under the auspices of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, in New Orleans, Louisiana in May 1981. He is a May 1986, graduate of a United Methodist University, namely Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana. More recently, Pastor Yarbrough attended the Master of Divinity Program at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, a Presbyterian learning institution, where he traveled internationally to Ghana, West Africa, in 1999 and 2001, and studied "Black Religion and African Spirituality" and "Faith and Healing" respectively, during these missionary/educational journeys.

Pastor Yarbrough was licensed to preach on July 26, 1992 at Tulane Memorial Baptist Church in New Orleans , Louisiana . There he served as an associate minister under the pastoral leadership of Dr. G. Martin Young. He subsequently and sequentially, served as an associate minister at Elm Grove Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana under the leadership of the late Rev. Joseph R. Williams Sr., at Star Hill Baptist Church in Baton Rouge , Louisiana under the leadership of Rev. Raymond A. Jetson and at Beechgrove Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana under the leadership of Rev. Gregory V. White.
In May 2003, Pastor Yarbrough responded to the call to teach Bible Study at Imani Temple of Plaquemine, Louisiana . Although three people attended the initial session, God has a “More Than Enough Plan” for Pastor Yarbrough, the Imani Temple family, and the community of Plaquemine, Louisiana . With his ministry beginning with 17 members in March 14, 2004, the anniversary of the birth date of his mother, the Imani Temple of Plaquemine congregation has grown to 50 members in a 6 month period and continues to grow. Through the anointed teaching and vision of Pastor Marlon Nelson Yarbrough, Imani Temple is moving positively in every aspect of the five-fold purpose of the New Testament church.
Yarbrough Ministries was birthed in July 1992 and in September 2004 entered into a collaborative partnership effort with Imani Temple to make the Word of God, as presented by Pastor Yarbrough, available through this website. The partnership of Imani Temple and Yarbrough Ministries facilitates the Word of God as presented by Pastor Yarbrough to be made available through this website. Radio and television slots are being sought and are forthcoming in the “Near Present” for the glory of God.
CDs and DVDs of sermons from Yarbrough Ministries are made available for your in-depth study of God's Word. The Word, as taught by Pastor Yarbrough, focuses on feeding humanity the milk and meat of the anointed Word of God, thereby producing in them
spiritual oneness (unity) and spiritual growth (dependency), by encouraging and facilitating a closer relationship (commitment) and a more meaningful fellowship (revelation). |
